After Jefferson city administrator Mike Palmer gave his quarterly update of city activities to the Greene County board of supervisors Monday, board chair John Muir broached the subject of city participation in assuring ambulance service is available to city and county residents.
Muir told Palmer there has been discussions with Greene County Medical Center about the future of ambulance service after the retirement of longtime Greene County EMS owner Dennis Morlan at the end of the month.
“We’d like to include the city in some of those discussions,” Muir said. “It’d be nice if it was cooperative considering the number of people that service would be provided for within the city.”
“We don’t know anything yet, but if there’s a chance of doing it together, it would be nice,” he said.
Palmer asked Muir to set a time for the discussion.
